What does Algebra do....

Learn mode Algebra will generate different problem categories with different types of problems and explain each necessary step to find the answer. You cannot type your answer in this mode.  Ofcourse we recommend that you try to solve the problem yourself and predict the next step.

Exercise mode The program wil generate exercises and wait for your answer. When you press the Control button your answer will be evaluated, showing a red or green label, and Algebra will show its own solution. No record is kept of your  progress.

Problem Categories Algebra has four problem categories: Simplify, Factorise, Equations and Fractions. Each categorie is divided in 2 to 5 problemtypes, which are subdivided in three levels: easy, intermediate and hard. Algebra does not have a fixed set of exercises. Each exercise is created at runtime. This is possible because Algebra really solves the problems itself, it has no predefined answers.

Types of Problems

Simplify Factorise Equations Fractions
plus/minus simple factors linear plus/minus
multiply trinomials sum/product quadratic multiply
brackets and factors special trinomials   divide
double backets
brackets and powers

Steps: All solutions can be shown in "Step by Step" mode, which helps pupils to subdivide problems in small portions. For each step Algebra will give an expanation.
